HILTON SHORT HILLS: My Best Kept Secret…Revealed!
Submitted by Miguel on Mon, 10/31/2011 - 23:26
After an exhausting NYC trip, I needed my much-deserved rest. HILTON's power PR man, Mr. Mark Ricci suggested that I should book a suite at the HILTON - SHORT HILLS in New Jersey. My eyebrows raised and replied back to him: "NEW JERSEY? Do I look like one of the characters of the Jersey Shore kids?" But he said , "you must discover HILTON SHORT HILLS and the much-talked about EFOREA SPA".
Two hours later a black Lincoln Town car picked me up at my NYC hotel and drove me so comfortably to the Hilton Short Hills (a relaxing 45 minutes drive from Manhattan). As the car nears the hotel, I can't help but notice a mall, yes The Mall at Shorth Hills. The mall is just 5 mins walk from the hotel : Now that's what I call relaxing!
The courteous Front Office staff checked me in in a world record (breaking) time of 3 mins! The dashing Mr. Paul N. Holden, Director of Sales & Marketing of Hilton Short Hills and his team accompanied me to my humble suite: The Presidential Suite!
As I entered, I can smell the scent of rose. Beautifully arranged blue and very rare purple roses ignites my eyes in pure fascination (Paul made sure that the PURPLE roses are there in time as per my request. Thanks, Paul!). The Presidential Suite is like a Grand Dame. So refined and elegant. The decors and room fixtures are very subtle yet speaks out of pure class. As I inspected the living room and dining room areas, I can see the lush greenery of Short Hills. Simply stunning! I also inspected the kitchen, equipped with a small cooking area and Ref-freezer systems. I peaked into the fridge and VIOLA CHILLED BUBBLES & FRESH STRAWBERRIES! As I passed the walked-in closet (my 4 suitcases looked so small in that area!), I caught a glance of the masterly-crafted bathroom. The diva-ish bathtub can fit a party of 4 (don't give me ideas!! lol). The separate shower is very spacious too! A "His & Hers" sink is very appropriate for this grand bathroom. The bedroom is so perfect for any dignitary, diva or, moi! So enormous! The bed is very comfortable and perfect for my pajama party! And my chilled pillows were "served" on a silver plater! How PRETENTIOUS.. I luv it!

After unpacking and answering tons of emails, my "Kirstie Alley cravings" starts to set in. Although I have a stand-by chef (being a guest at the Presidential Suite gives you that perk), I opted to just discover the different food outlets in the hotel. For some hearty snack, I indulged myself at the very cozy "RETREAT LOUNGE". For snacks, I recommend the Polenta Steak Fries and the hotel's pride, the "Our Burger". One late lunch (after a shopping spree), I tried their Fish 'N Chips. Yummy! One evening, I invited my niece from Rutgers University, Yesika and my uber cool NYC banker friend Jasper to have dinner with me at "THE DINING ROOM". The contemporary American menu that was created by one of US leading chef, Richard Kennedy added extra spark to a beautiful and festive evening. And for all of you out there: You must book a table during the hotel's Sunday Brunch. A bounty of updated brunch favorites featuring innovative and interactive serving stations including carved meats, fresh seafood, healthy options and homemade desserts. Just between you and moi, The Sunday Brunch is very good for people watching too. Big names, big hairs and big stars! Last time I was there, my table was right beside MARTHA STEWART and her friends' table. We shared little pleasantries and asked me to guest in her show soon. That's a deal, Martha! *wink*.

One thing I love most about the Hilton- Short Hills is that I can escape from the corporate jungle of NYC and I can still SHOP! Imagine ALL the high-end stores and brands along Fifth Avenue? Well, brands like Tiffany's & Co, Chanel, Bvlgari, Dior, Hemés, Gucci, Apple, Antropologie are within your reach! GLAMAZING! Why walk hours and hours, up and down 5th Ave, when Hilton Short Hills is just 5 minutes away from our "paradise", The Mall at Short Hills. I went a couple of times in a day just to "accomplish" my shopping list. At my last trip of the day to the mall, I embarrassingly called the hotel's Front Desk to send someone to help me carry my latest acquisitions. And they did! How hospitable is that! Fantabulous!
I needed some deep-tissue massage and facials after my marathon shopping. Thus, I went to the EFOREA SPA. Well that's another article, fellas. I can't wait to tell you all about my WONDERFUL experience at the EFOREA SPA.

I strongly suggest, after your tiring and time-consuming NYC trip, spend 3-4 days at Hilton Short Hills in New Jersey to unwind and shop. (FYI: There is no tax for clothes at the State of the Jersey kids, so we can shop 'til our cards melt!) Plus you have all the privacy and pampering from Hilton Short Hills.
I just booked a suite with them for November. Because after my NYC commitments, I definitely need to spend some time at my East Coast paradise… There is nothing short of anything at The Hilton Short Hills!
